Join us in Tanzania with our work as World Rabies Day Ambassadors for the Meru Animal Welfare Organisation. This work involves travelling to remote Maasai communities to vaccinate their dogs against rabies, helping to prevent the spread of this fatal disease from animals to humans. While there, we are greeted with some of the warmest hospitality that I have ever experienced, and you can read about it here soon!
While these plans are temporarily on hold, Jan and I will be joining an orangutan rescue team in Central Borneo who are working on the frontline of the war against unsustainable palm oil plantations. Our time will be divided between the “forest school” where orphaned apes learn to climb, the hospital, and in-field rescues of injured animals. Check back in later to read the stories from our time there!
If you are a student interested in working professionally with animals, our Study Abroad programs can be found on our Get Involved page, or directly at loopabroad.com. We take aspiring conservationists to learn about wildlife medicine in the field – to South Africa, Thailand, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Australia, Panama and Belize!
